I know many young people may be questioning what this election means for their futures, wondering if the outcome changes their ability to live openly, to live authentically, to live fully. In moments like these, I want every LGBTQ+ young person—and every person who cares about them—to know one thing: The Trevor Project is here for you, no matter the outcome of any election.

As the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ young people, our mission remains clear: to end suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning young people. We will continue to ensure that every LGBTQ+ young person has access to safe, affirming spaces, especially during challenging times.

I want to say with all my heart: Your life matters, and you were born to live it. Trevor will always be here to support you, to listen, and to offer you the care you deserve.

Our commitment to LGBTQ+ youth has always been about people, not politics. That will never change. We’ll continue to work with leaders from all political backgrounds who share our mission of ending LGBTQ+ youth suicide, and I am heartened that our work consistently receives strong bipartisan support. We believe that creating safe, affirming environments for LGBTQ+ young people is above politics—it’s about ensuring every young person feels valued, respected, and seen.

Our work together is more important than ever. Thank you for being here with us and with LGBTQ+ young people across the country at this moment. We are united in our mission, and with your support, we’ll keep moving forward, creating a future where every young person can live authentically.

In unity and support,

Jaymes Black

This Thanksgiving and year-round, The Trevor Project is here for LGBTQ young people who may feel anxious, sad, or isolated. If you or someone you know needs support this season, please know our counselors are always available, 24/7 and for free. Finding time to take care of yourself around the holidays is crucial to protecting mental health. Try taking a moment over the next few days to practice gratitude — many studies have found…

Learn from LGBTQ+ Young People with Episode 2 of “Sharing Space”

Following the first episode of our educational series “Sharing Space” moderated by longtime Trevor supporter Daniel Radcliffe, we’re proud to launch our second episode featuring one of Trevor’s own: Nova Bright-Williams, our Head of Internal Training, Learning, and Development, speaking to LGBTQ+ young people about how we can best show up for them. This second episode of “Sharing Space'' features transgender, intersex, queer, and nonbinary young people who join Bright to talk about their experiences with gender euphoria, stigma, and acceptance. These candid conversations have the power to teach allies and LGBTQ+ people alike about the power of affirmation.  “I…
